Apple Launches iPhone 17e With A19 Chipset, 48MP Camera and MagSafe Support

Apple has officially expanded its smartphone lineup with the launch of the iPhone 17e, new model positioned as a more affordable option in the iPhone 17 series. The device brings upgraded performance, improved connectivity, and modern camera features while keeping a familiar iPhone design.

Performance and Connectivity

The iPhone 17e is powered by Apple’s new A19 chipset, built using advanced 3-nanometer technology. According to Apple, the new processor delivers significantly faster performance compared to older iPhones while also improving power efficiency.

The chip includes a 6-core CPU and a 4-core GPU with hardware-accelerated ray tracing, which helps improve gaming visuals. The phone also features a 16-core Neural Engine, designed to run AI and Apple Intelligence features directly on the device.

Apple has also introduced its latest C1X modem, which offers faster connectivity speeds and improved energy efficiency compared to the previous generation.

Design and Display

The iPhone 17e keeps a classic smartphone design with an aerospace-grade aluminum body and IP68 water and dust resistance. It features a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display with HDR support and peak brightness of up to 1200 nits.

The front is protected by Ceramic Shield 2, which Apple claims provides better scratch resistance and reduced reflections. The device supports Face ID for secure unlocking and also includes the customizable Action Button for quick shortcuts.

Camera Features

The smartphone comes with a 48MP Fusion main camera. By default, photos are captured at 24MP for better detail and storage efficiency, but users can also shoot in full 48MP resolution.

The camera uses sensor cropping to provide 2x optical-quality zoom without needing a separate telephoto lens. Portrait photos automatically capture depth information, allowing users to adjust background blur even after taking the picture.

For video recording, the iPhone 17e supports 4K Dolby Vision recording at up to 60fps, along with Spatial Audio recording and AI-based wind noise reduction for clearer sound.

The front features a 12MP TrueDepth camera for selfies and Face ID authentication.

Battery, Charging and Software

Apple says the iPhone 17e offers up to 26 hours of video playback. The device supports USB-C wired charging, reaching up to 50% charge in around 30 minutes with a compatible adapter.

Wireless charging is supported via MagSafe and Qi2, offering speeds of up to 15W. The phone runs on iOS 26, bringing new software features and improved power management.

Safety features such as Crash Detection and satellite connectivity are also included in supported regions.

Storage and Connectivity

The iPhone 17e comes with 256GB and 512GB storage options, removing the earlier 128GB base variant. It supports Dual SIM (nano-SIM and eSIM), 5G connectivity, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, and multiple global navigation systems.

The iPhone 17e is available in Black, White, and Soft Pink colour options.
