Google Confirms Continued Sales of Original Pixel Fold
Earlier this week, Google officially unveiled the Pixel 9 series which includes the Pixel 9 Pro Fold the successor to last year’s original Pixel Fold. Following the announcement, the Google Store changed the status of the original Pixel Fold to “no longer available” leading many to believe that the device had been discontinued. However, this won’t be the case for long.
Google might discontinue the Pixel Fold in favor of its successor, Google has clarified that the original Pixel Fold will return.
Google plans to start selling the Pixel Fold again after the Pixel 9 Pro Fold becomes available on September 4. So if you missed out on getting a Pixel Fold don’t worry you’ll have another chance to buy one starting in early September.
Google hasn’t said whether the original Pixel Fold will be offered at a discount now that its successor is on the market. It’s possible the company might reduce the price by around $100 or so. While this discount might not be significant enough to drive a large number of sales it would at least prevent complaints about the lack of a price reduction. This approach is similar to what Apple has done in the past and it wouldn’t be surprising if Google followed it.
