Honor Teases Magic V5 Foldable Ahead of Launch Today in China

Honor is all set to launch its latest foldable smartphone — the Magic V5 — today, July 2, 2025, at 7 PM (local time) in China. Just before the official debut, the company has once again teased some of the phone’s key features, highlighting its slim design, powerful performance, and AI capabilities.

Slim and Powerful Foldable Phone

According to teasers shared on Weibo, the Honor Magic V5 will feature a super slim body, with a folded thickness of just 8.8mm, which the company claims makes it the world’s thinnest foldable phone. It will also be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Leading Version chipset, promising fast and smooth performance.

Honor is marketing the Magic V5 as its “most powerful AI phone” to date. One of the confirmed AI features is AI internal screen foreign object detection, with more smart tools expected to be included.

Camera, Battery, and Build

The Magic V5 will include a 64MP ultra-sensitive periscope telephoto camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), making it the foldable with the highest pixel telephoto lens. Despite its thin and light design, the phone will house a large 6,100mAh battery, offering long-lasting usage.

Honor has also added its Luban shock-absorbing hinge, designed for improved durability against drops both on the inside and outside of the phone.

Smart Features and Color Options

The device will come with PC-level productivity tools and support the brand’s YOYO smart assistant. Customers in China will have four color choices: Velvet Black, Warm White, Silk Road Dunhuang, and Dawn Gold.

Launch Event and Other Products

The Magic V5 will be launched alongside several other Honor devices, including the MagicPad 3 tablet, MagicBook Art 14 2025 laptop, Watch 5 Ultra smartwatch, and Open Earbuds. The event will be live-streamed on various e-commerce and media platforms in China.
