HyperOS 2.0 System Launcher Beta Released With Tons of New Features – Installation Guide Explained

After annoucing HyperOS 2.0 system launcher beta testing for Chinese users by Xiaomi, the tech giant has finally rolled out a new HyperOS 2.0 system launcher app update for Xiaomi phones which can be installed on some selected devices which I will explain you in this post along with its installation guide and bugs.

HyperOS 2.0 System Launcher Beta Testing

Xiaomi has finally started the official beta testing of its upcoming HyperOS 2.0 System Launcher in China. Today, the Company has rolled out a new update for beta testers which have some new intresting features compared to the last update.

However, this newly released system launcher can be installed only on Xiaomi and Redmi devices running on HyperOS 1.0 Based on Android 14 version . If you are using HyperOS Android 13 version then, I personally don’t recommend to install this particular update on your specific model.

Newly-Added Features

Xiaomi has added tons of new features in the latest HyperOS 2.0 system launcher beta update for Chinese users but you can easily get access to those features by installing the APK of the System Launcher on your Xiaomi and Redmi device.

1. More Cleaner Look: Xiaomi has made some very cool changes in the homescreen layout of your phone which will give you more space where you can place more icons and widgets. Your Home Screen can be changed into a Desktop version by using newly-added Dense Mode which can be found under Home Screen Layout settings.

1. Removal of Home Screen Layout: The latest system launcher removes older 4×4 and 5×5 Home Screen Layout. Instead, you will get new options called Standard and Dense Mode which can be seen in the screenshots below.

1. Ability to Rename Folders: Xiaomi introduced new folder features in its previous HyperOS updates and now this launcher added the ability to rename the Folders which was missing previously.

1. Better Animations: Moreover, Xiaomi already released a new engine animation update via HyperOS 1.5 BIG OTA updates that improves the smoothness of animations but this update further optimizes them. Even, folder animations are more smoother.
2. Bug Fixes: Since, the launcher is still in beta phases but it fixes several bugs and brings new fixes and improvements over the last version. After installing this update on my Xiaomi phone, I found that At a glance widget gets cropped from upper and lower sides due to new implementation of arrangement of icons.

Installation Guide

1. Download and save the Latest System launcher APK on your Xiaomi or Redmi Phone.
2. Go to Settings/Backup and Restore/Mobile device and take a backup of your System Launcher under other system app data and untick all other apps.
3. Now, tap on the downloaded file to start the installation process on your device.
4. After installation, you will see a new popup for rearragements of icons.

How to Uninstall?

If you want to downgrade/uninstall the launcher version on your phone, then simply go to settings/Apps and search for system launcher and tap on that (system launcher) and there you will see uninsall updates option. Simply click on that and then restore the backup you’ve taken in installation guide to get your original Home Screen Layout.
