Nothing is about to release its next most anticipated Android major update for Nothing Phone users. Nothing OS 3.0 based on Android 15 is expected to bring many new features, UI, and improvements. Recently, Nothing began recruiting Beta testers to try out the update, and now the changelog has leaked, giving us a look at what’s coming.

This is the first closed beta update, which is released to Nothing Phone (2a) CBT users but somehow Smartprix leaked the whole changelog and new features.

Nothing OS 3.0 Beta Changelog

We’ll summarize the changelog for readers in simple words.

  • Redesigned Quick Settings panel.
  • Updated lock screen clock with customization options.
  • Ability to reset the home screen to Nothing’s default layout from the customization page.
  • App archiving feature to manage storage.
  • Partial screen recording capability.
  • Refreshed Settings page with a new look.
  • Enhanced setup wizard for a smoother experience.
  • Predictive back gestures for supported apps.
  • Improved portrait mode, low-light camera performance, and interface enhancements.
  • Better fingerprint unlock design and more responsive gesture navigation.

The update includes a new Quick Settings menu which has been in development since the Nothing OS 2.5’s release. Another major addition is the lock screen customization.

Users can choose from different clock styles and even shrink the clock to make room for more widgets. It’s called the Dynamic Clock which can also adjust itself automatically.

The Settings app has also been redesigned, making it more organized and visually appealing. When navigating through the options, a shading effect appears at the top of the screen, which looks good. A new charging assistant feature will notify users if their phone isn’t charging at an optimal speed.

Also, Nothing OS 3.0 comes with Android 15-specific features like app archiving, predictive back animations, and partial screen recording. Though some of these updates seem small, they are still important improvements.

Carl Pei posted some upcoming features on X a few months ago. This includes the Nothing Community and Gallery apps and a feature called Private Space from Android 15, these might be added to Nothing OS later. Although this beta update might not be the final version, the upcoming features are shaping up to make this one of the most exciting releases for Nothing Phones.

The company might be working on releasing the next beta update very soon for Phone (2a) CBT users. If talking about Nothing OS 3.0 stable release it may happen in November or December.
