Nothing Phone (1) grabs Nothing OS 2.5.6 Update with New Features and Improvements

Nothing company released Nothing OS 2.5.6 update for Phone (1) users. This update especially brings some new features and improvements for a better user experience along with the June 2024 security patch.

The version number of this update is Nothing OS 2.5.6 and its size is 118 MB. It took me 10–11 minutes to install this new update on my device.

These are the screenshots where you can see the exact changelog mentioned in the OTA update.

Apart from this changelog, you will get a new Calendar/Date widget. If you don’t find it just update your Nothing launcher and Nothing widgets app from the Google Play Store. I also did a proper video on this update so you can watch it.

After this, I also did a performance test, where I saw some improvements in terms of benchmark scores. I ran some tests using apps like Geekbench, CPU Throttling Test and Antutu benchmark.

Current Update benchmark scores:

Geekbench CPU

  • Single-core: 992
  • Multi-score: 2833

Geekbench GPU

  • GPU OpenCL Score: 2298

CPU Throttling Test

  • CPU throttled to 72%
  • The average GIPS score was 253728

Antutu Benchmark

  • Anutu Score: 610621

Nothing OS 2.5.6 Update Changelog for Nothing Phone (1):

New features

  • Added a “Hide navigation bar” feature for more full-screen immersive experience. Accessed via Settings > System > Gestures > Navigation mode > Gesture navigation settings > Hide navigation bar.
  • Optimised the interaction for editing widgets on the home screen. You can now long-press widgets to access that widget’s shortcuts menu.
  • New swipe function in the Glyph interface for better setting the Glyph brightness.
  • Introduced support for Ultra HDR feature in Camera, supporting XDR display effect for photos.

Improvements

  • Introduced a recovery mechanism for abnormal call states to improve call stability.
  • Ensure the screen stays off when the power key is pressed during an incoming call to enhance privacy and prevent accidental touches.
  • Added support for sending and receiving SMS over 5G for certain carriers.
  • Added VoWiFi support for certain carriers .

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue causing recording problems in WhatsApp under specific paths.
  • Resolved the issue where dialling 111 in the UK redirected to the 999 emergency number in some scenarios.
  • Fixed a problem where the volume bar kept popping up when connected to car Bluetooth.
