Stable Nothing OS 3.0 Update Released for Nothing Phone (1)

Nothing has officially rolled out the stable version of Nothing OS 3.0, powered by Android 15, for its Nothing Phone (1). The update brings exciting features, design upgrades, and enhancements to improve the user experience.

  • 1.46 GB for users updating directly from Nothing OS 2.6 (based on Android 14).

What’s New in Nothing OS 3.0?

This stable update introduces a range of features and improvements designed to enhance usability, productivity, and personalisation.

1. Shared Widgets

• Stay connected with friends and family using shared widgets.
• Widgets from another Nothing device can now appear on your home screen, allowing interaction through reactions.
• Currently, only Photo Widgets (square) are supported for sharing.
• More widget types will be supported in future updates.

Note: Shared Widgets are still in beta, so users may encounter occasional issues as Nothing refines the feature.

2. Lock Screen Upgrades

• A new lock screen customisation page can be accessed by long-pressing the lock screen or navigating to the Customisation menu.
• New clock styles offer more options to personalise your lock screen.
• Expanded widget space lets users add more widgets directly to their lock screen.

3. New App Drawer Style

• The AI-powered Smart Drawer automatically categorises apps into folders, making them easier to find and organise.
• Users can now pin their favourite apps to the top of the drawer for quicker access.

4. Enhanced Pop-up View

• Drag and position pop-up windows anywhere on the screen for better multitasking.
• Resize the pop-up view by dragging its corners.
• Pin pop-up views to the screen edges for easy access.
• Swipe down on notifications to open them in a pop-up view without leaving your current app. (Can be enabled via Settings > Special features > Pop-up view)

5. Elevated Design

• Redesigned Quick Settings for easier shortcut customisation.
• Updated widget library with an intuitive interface to choose Nothing Widgets or third-party options.
• Enhanced Settings UI, showing live network and Bluetooth connection details.
• New dot animations for fingerprint unlocking and charging add a playful visual touch.

6. Performance and Utility Improvements

• AI-powered app management learns your usage habits, keeping frequently used apps active for longer.
• Auto-archive support automatically frees up storage without deleting apps or data.
• Partial screen sharing allows recording of specific app windows instead of the entire screen.
• Updated setup wizard (version 3.0) offers a smoother onboarding experience.
• Predictive back animations are now enabled for supported apps, improving navigation fluidity.

Availability

The stable Nothing OS 3.0 update is rolling out globally in phases. Users can check for the update manually by going to Settings > System > System Update.
