As with previous releases, the update will likely arrive first on the latest flagship devices before expanding to other eligible smartphones in phases.

Around two months ago, the Nothing team published a Nothing OS Rollout Roadmap, explaining how the company plans to improve its software rollout process and provide users with clearer information about updates. The roadmap page serves as a central place where users can find the latest software rollout details and update progress.

Nothing OS Update Roadmap

While the roadmap mainly focused on software updates, Nothing also briefly teased Nothing OS 5.0 with the following statements:

“👀 And yes, we’ve seen the recent Android 17 announcements. Nothing OS 5.0 is already taking shape. More when we’re ready.”

“Nothing OS is evolving, and there is a lot more coming soon. Nothing OS 5.0 is shaping up well, and we can’t wait to share more when the time is right.”

Although the company didn’t reveal any specific features, these statements confirm that development of Nothing OS 5.0 is already underway.

More recently, Nothing Co-founder Akis Evangelidis also teased the upcoming update on X (formerly Twitter). When a user asked about Nothing OS 5.0, Akis replied:

“We are cooking. Coming soon.”

While the reply doesn’t reveal any specific features, it suggests that development is progressing well and that Nothing could share more details about Nothing OS 5.0 in the near future.

What to Expect from Nothing OS 5.0?

Nothing has not officially revealed the new features of Nothing OS 5.0 yet. Since it will be based on Android 17, users can expect better performance, improved privacy, bug fixes, and new customization options. Nothing is also expected to introduce its own software improvements on top of Android 17.

The company has already offered an early preview of the new design through the latest Nothing Gallery Beta update, which adds a frosted glass effect to the floating action bar. This suggests that Nothing OS 5.0 could bring a refreshed visual design across the system.

Based on early signs, Nothing OS 5.0 may also include updates to the lock screen customization page, Quick Settings panel, New Widgets, Essential Space, and other system apps. However, Nothing has not officially confirmed these features yet.

More details, including the complete feature list, beta program, and rollout timeline, are expected to be announced closer to the official release.

If you own one of the devices listed above, you can expect to receive the Nothing OS 5.0 update when Nothing begins its rollout. While the official schedule is still under wraps, this eligibility list gives users a good idea of which phones are set to receive the next major Android update.
