Android 15 update from Google is just around the corner and everyone is now eagerly awaiting HyperOS 2.0 based on Android 15 version for their Xiaomi phones. HyperOS 2.0 will bring some significant improvements over HyperOS 1.0 that will enhance the overall user experience on Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO devices.

What is HyperOS 2.0?

Xiaomi took a different approach last year with the announcement of their latest operating system called HyperOS which was released for lots of Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO devices based on Android 14 & 13 version. The tech giant claimed that HyperOS is totally different operating system compared to previous generation MIUI software but when you see it side by side, it resembles with MIUI 14 version.

Interally, HyperOS is light-weight and fast and can handle tasks easily as per Xiaomi. This year HyperOS 2.0 which is the next operating system after HyperOS 1.0 for Xiaomi devices is going to release. The HyperOS 2.0 will bring major new improvements and features along with a super smooth and lag-free experience on all Xiaomi phones.

Apart from this, HyperOS 2.0 will be available for multiple Xiaomi devices with Android 15 and Android 14 versions. The Xiaomi phones which are now older and are at the end of their software support will get Android 14-based HyperOS 2.0 update while the newest devices will receive Android 15-based HyperOS 2.0 update.

Everyone is waiting for the HyperOS 2.0 for their devices but you should know these features that are expected to come with with next-generation update:

Brand New Features in Launcher

The tech giant is currently testing HyperOS 2.0 system launcher in China and just released their HyperOS 2.0 feature based system launcher for beta testers. This update brings some super cool features such as :

  • New Folder Animations
  • Abilitiy to Edit Folder Name (Enlarged and XXL)
  • Improved Animations
  • New Standard and Dense Mode
  • Updaed Layout of Gesture settings
  • Removal of 4×4 and 5×5 layout

Moreover, according to sources, HyperOS 2.0 will also improve the app icon animations and remove all jitteres from the system. Users will get a super smooth animation experience with the latest HyperOS 2.0 update.

Currently, there are 6 super wallpapers available for Xiaomi devices which are listed below:

Accroding to the leaks, Xiaomi may add all new desert and ocean super wallpapers in the upcoming HyperOS 2.0. This will be a great addition for Xiaomi users if it happens. Last year, Xiaomi added 56 new static wallpapers and you can expect same for HyperOS 2.0 update.

Advanced Textures 2.0

This feature is only available for HyperOS based on Android 14 version and further it depends upon your device capabilites. Advanced textures is just another great addition to HyperOS 1.0 which enables great blur across all system ui elemnents be it control centre, notification panel, or system apps.

HyperOS 2.0 may improve this advanced texture feature with Android 15 which will give users a better blur across all apps and this may support more apps.

Lock Screen Notification with Stacking Effect

Xiaomi HyperOS 2.0 may add stacking effect just like iOS on Lock Screen for notifications. This will stack up all your notifications and users won’t get cluttered notifications anymore with HyperOS 2.0 update.

Also, some sources claims that HyperOS 2.0 may add the ability to adjust the position of lock screen clock interfaces which is currently missing from HyperOS 1.0. Also, the Lock Screen depth effect feature will be improved with next update as some wallpapers are not compatible with Xiaomi HyperOS Lock Screen.

Home Screen Widgets Stacking Effect

HyperOS 2.0 will bring the ability to stack up your Home Screen widgets or you can simply group your Home Screen widgets in the upcoming update as you can see in the screenshot given below.

Also, HyperOS 2.0 will add new widgets in the widget section of your phone that will give you a new user experience.

New Control Centre & Animations

Xiaomi redesign it’s control centre with every new major update a little bit, and HyperOS 2.0 is also bring some significant changes in the Control centre such as more rounded edges for toggles and new transition animations between notification panel and control centre. Apart from all these changes, Xiaomi may add better security-related features, HyperMind 2.0, better animations, improved battery backup, and optimization in file system with the introduction of LROFS file system which is light-weight and read only.

HyperOS 2.0 Expected Release Date

Xiaomi introduced HyperOS 1.0 Android 14 last year in October with Xiaomi 14 Series and the first device was Xiaomi 14 & Xiaomi 14 Pro to get the HyperOS update. As per the reports, HyperOS 2.0 will be unveiled in October 2024 with the upcoming Xiaomi 15 Series devices in China.

Later, the update will be available for Global and Indian devices expected from December 2024 in batches.

Xiaomi Announces Bug Fixes for HyperOS 2 on Flagship Phones

Xiaomi has officially shared details about recent bug fixes for its latest operating system, HyperOS 2. These updates aim to improve the experience for users of flagship smartphones like the Xiaomi 15 Pro and Xiaomi 13 Ultra. The announcement was made on April 4 through the Xiaomi Community.

HyperOS 2 Problems That Are Now Fixed:

Xiaomi’s new update fixes several important issues that users have reported:

  • Volume Control Alignment: The volume bar that didn’t align properly when opening the control center is now fixed, making the interface smoother.
  • Battery Drain with Mi Band 9: Users of Xiaomi 15 and 15 Pro who had battery issues while connected to Mi Band 9 should now see better battery life.
  • Calculator Input Problem: You can now edit and change numbers in the calculator app, something users couldn’t do earlier.
  • Audio Fix for WeChat: The weird metallic sound during WeChat recordings has been removed.
  • Theme Section Cleanup: Duplicate themes without borders were showing up on the Xiaomi 13 Ultra. These have now been merged to make things clearer.

Issues Xiaomi is Still Working On:

Xiaomi also said that it is working hard to fix other problems that some users are still facing, including:

  • Screen freezing or going black when changing certain developer settings.
  • High power usage on the desktop in the Redmi K70 Ultra.
  • Problems with Always-On Display (AOD) and shortcut icons on the lock screen.
  • Volume control layout appearing incorrectly on some screens.
  • A bug with the smart unsubscribe feature for sports updates.

A Xiaomi spokesperson said, “We are listening carefully to our users and focusing on solving the issues that affect daily use the most. These are just the first of many improvements coming to HyperOS.”

Poco X7 with IP69 Rating Announced, X7 Pro Cameras Break Cover

The Poco X7 is launching on January 9 with top-tier features, including IP68 and IP69 ratings for water and dust resistance. This information was confirmed by Flipkart, an Indian online retailer, through promo pages for the Poco X7 and X7 Pro.

The Poco X7 will sport a 1.5K 3D curved AMOLED display with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and an impressive peak brightness of 3000 nits. The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and supports Dolby Vision and HDR10+. A fingerprint scanner is embedded under the display for easy biometric authentication.

Flipkart also shared details about the Poco X7 Pro’s cameras. It features: A 50MP primary camera with the Sony LYT 600 sensor and Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), an 8MP ultrawide camera for wide-angle shots,a 20MP selfie camera for crisp photos. The Pro model will also support 4K video recording at 60 FPS with both OIS and EIS. A special Director Mode will let users create cinematic videos.

The Poco X7 Pro will pack a Dimensity 8400 Ultra SoC, LPDDR5X RAM, and UFS 4.0 storage. It also includes HyperOS 2 for a seamless user experience, 90W fast charging, and a massive 6000 mAh battery (increased to 6550 mAh for the Indian market).

The Poco X7 Pro will have a base price of under INR 30000 ($350/€340), making it a competitive option in its segment. Poco will also launch a special Poco X7 Pro Iron Man Edition next Thursday.
