Nothing Phone 3 January 2026 Nothing OS 4.0 Update

Nothing OS 4.0 January 2026 Update Released for Nothing Phone (3): Here’s What’s New

Nothing has started rolling out a new software update for the Nothing Phone (3). The latest update is based on Nothing OS 4.0 and brings the January 2026 security patch along with several new features, improvements, and bug fixes.

The update size is around 381MB, and installation takes roughly 8–10 minutes depending on the device. Users may need to manually check for the update by going to Settings → System → System Update since no automatic notification was sent initially.

New Glyph Features Added

One of the main highlights of this update is a new Glyph Matrix feature. Users can now see caller information and charging progress by shaking the phone while it is placed face down using the Flip to Glyph option.

After enabling the feature from Glyph Interface settings:

  • Caller ID can appear on the Glyph Matrix during incoming calls.
  • Charging status can also be viewed by gently shaking the phone while charging.

Easier Access to Essential Notifications

Nothing has added a new shortcut for Essential Notifications inside notification settings. Earlier, users had to access this option through the Glyph Interface menu, but now it is easier to find and manage.

Widget Library Improvements

The update also introduces a recommendation section in the widget library. This allows users to quickly explore AI-powered community widgets from Nothing Playground, including widgets like World Clock and Moon Phases.

Private Space App Updates Now Supported

Apps stored inside Private Space can now be updated directly through the Google Play Store. Previously, updating these apps sometimes caused errors.

System Improvements and Bug Fixes

Nothing has also included several optimizations and fixes, such as:

  • Improved weather widget location permission handling to reduce repeated prompts
  • Better ringtone performance and compatibility with third-party apps like WhatsApp and Telegram
  • Improved vibration and haptic feedback stability
  • Better call volume optimization for hearing-aid users
  • Improved camera stability and fix for portrait mode preview freezing
  • Fixed dual-SIM ringtone mix-up issue
  • Fixed low speaker volume when switching from Bluetooth calls
  • Fixed game audio not resuming after returning from recent apps
  • Fixed incorrect “No Internet” network icon in some cases
  • Enhanced overall network and system stability

Overall Update Experience

After installing the update, core features like calling, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and network connectivity are reported to work smoothly. The phone may feel slightly warm immediately after updating, which is normal during system optimization.

Overall, this is a refinement update focused mainly on stability improvements and small feature additions rather than major visual changes. More significant updates are expected in future Nothing OS releases.
