Nothing has started rolling out the Nothing OS 4.1 update for the Nothing Phone (3). This update is based on Android 16 and brings new features, improvements, and the April 2026 security patch. The update size is around 295 MB.
Essential Voice AI is the Main Highlight
The biggest feature in this update is Essential Voice, a new AI-powered speech-to-text tool. It allows users to type using voice more efficiently without manually typing.

It can clean up sentences by removing filler words, auto-format text into proper structure, and even translate speech in real time. Users can also save personal phrases like email addresses, which can be inserted automatically while speaking.
New Features Added
Nothing OS 4.1 also introduces a new lock screen clock style inspired by the Phone (3a) Community Edition.
Another major addition is Live Updates, which now work across multiple areas like the lock screen, notification panel, and Glyph Interface. This allows users to track real-time updates from apps like navigation at a glance.
The Essential Notifications section has also been improved with a cleaner UI and smarter suggestions based on frequently used apps and contacts.
Improvements and Bug Fixes
The update includes several system improvements such as:
- Better video call stability in third-party apps
- Fixes for display issues in notification panel and quick settings
- Improved overall system stability
- Optimised eSIM setup instructions for better usability
It also includes the April 2026 Android security patch for better security.
Some Features Still Missing
While the update brings useful changes, some features are still missing on the Nothing Phone (3). Features like depth effect wallpapers, advanced lock screen customization, and some AI tools in the gallery are not yet included and may arrive in future updates.
Rollout Details
The update is currently rolling out to Nothing Phone (3) users. Other devices like the Phone (2a), Phone (3a) series, and CMF phones are expected to receive the update later this month, while some models may get it in the coming months.
