OnePlus has officially launched the OnePlus 15R in India. This is the brand’s latest top-end smartphone in the R series, and it arrives as promised with flagship-level features, long software support, and a large battery.
Software and Updates
The OnePlus 15R runs on OxygenOS 16, which is based on Android 16. The company says this new version of OxygenOS brings AI-powered features for smoother usage, smarter language tools, and better camera processing.
There is also deeper integration with Google Gemini, Google’s personal AI assistant. Users can connect Gemini with OnePlus’ Mind Space, allowing them to save information and act on it later. The new Plus Mind feature works like a personalised, context-aware “second brain” that helps users recall and use saved content easily.
In terms of long-term support, the OnePlus 15R will receive 4 major Android OS updates and 6 years of security patches, the same update policy as the flagship OnePlus 15.
Display
The phone features a large 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with an adaptive refresh rate of 60Hz, 90Hz, 120Hz, 144Hz and up to 165Hz for gaming. For faster and more accurate touch response, it includes a dedicated touch chip with 3200Hz touch sampling rate.
The display offers a pixel density of 450 PPI and can reach a peak brightness of 1,800 nits. It can also dim down to 2 nits, or even 1 nit when the Reduce White Point feature is enabled. OnePlus has also confirmed that the display carries TÜV Rheinland Intelligent Eye Care 5.0 certification.
Performance
The OnePlus 15R is the first smartphone powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset. It comes with 12GB LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512GB UFS 4.1 storage.
For thermal management, the phone uses a 360-degree Cryo-Velocity Cooling System, which includes a large 5,704mm² 3D vapour chamber, an aerogel insulation layer to reduce surface heat, and a white graphite back for better heat distribution.
The device also has a dedicated Wi-Fi chip for more stable and faster connections. For Indian users, OnePlus has partnered with TP-Link to reduce Wi-Fi congestion and lower in-game lag, even on crowded networks.
Camera
On the camera front, the OnePlus 15R features a 50MP Sony IMX906 primary sensor with OIS, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, and a 32MP autofocus front camera.
The rear camera supports 4K video recording at 120fps. The phone also uses the DetailMax Engine, the same advanced imaging system found on the OnePlus 15, for better photo clarity and detail.

- Ultra-Clear 26MP Mode: Combines multiple 12MP frames with a single 50MP frame to produce clearer images with manageable file sizes.
- Clear Burst: Shoots at up to 10 frames per second, using dual-exposure technology to reduce blur while keeping details intact.
- Clear Night Engine: Uses Dual Analog Gain technology to capture brighter and cleaner night photos with reduced noise.
Design and Durability
The OnePlus 15R comes with a metal frame and is available in three colour options:
- Charcoal Black with a glass back
- Mint Breeze with a glass back
- Electric Violet, exclusive to India, using fibreglass for better durability
The phone carries IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings, which means it can handle water immersion up to 2 metres for 30 minutes and even high-pressure hot water jets up to 80°C.
Battery and Charging
The smartphone packs a massive 7,400mAh battery. OnePlus claims the battery is designed to retain at least 80 percent capacity even after four years of use.
It supports 80W SUPERVOOC fast charging and uses Silicon Nanostack battery technology with 15 percent silicon content in the anode. This helps deliver higher energy density while keeping the battery compact.
