Kea Essential Remapper v1.1.2 Is Out With New Dynamic Icon and Pocket Mode

Kea 1.1.2

Kea: Essential Remapper has received a new update, with TechiBoy Studios rolling out version 1.1.2 for Android. The latest release brings a new dynamic app icon, a useful Pocket Mode, a new shortcut for quickly switching between apps, and several fixes and UI improvements.

The update continues to expand Kea beyond basic hardware button remapping, while also making the app more visually consistent with the Android system.

Kea gets a dynamic app icon

The highlight of Kea v1.1.2 is the new Dynamic App Icon.

The Kea icon can now automatically adapt to the user’s selected accent color as well as the system’s Light or Dark theme. The change also applies to the icon shown in the Recents overview.

This gives the app a more consistent appearance with the rest of the system instead of using the same static icon regardless of the user’s theme.

New Pocket Mode

Kea v1.1.2 also introduces Pocket Mode, which is designed to prevent accidental hardware button triggers.

When the phone is inside a pocket or placed face down, accidental button presses can potentially activate shortcuts configured through Kea. Pocket Mode is designed to reduce these unintended triggers and make the remapper more reliable during everyday use.

Quickly return to your previous app

The update also adds a new Quick App Switch shortcut action.

With this action assigned to a supported hardware button, users can quickly jump back to the app they were using previously. It provides a faster way to switch between two applications without manually opening the Recents screen.

Screen recording audio gets fixed

Kea v1.1.2 also addresses an issue related to screen recording.

The update fixes device and microphone audio capture, ensuring that both audio sources can work correctly during screen recording.

More UI and performance improvements

Beyond the headline features, the latest Kea update includes several smaller refinements.

Page transitions have been made smoother, while the overlay halo bloom preview has received improvements. TechiBoy Studios has also included general performance and stability improvements in the release.

  • Quick App Switch — Quickly switch back to the last-used app.
  • Screen Recording Audio — Fixed device and microphone audio capture.

With v1.1.2, Kea continues to build on its hardware button remapping experience while adding small but practical features that can make the app more convenient to use every day.
